Letter to cousin, describing how an unexpected shower spoiled your picnic

My dear Rizwan,
So many thanks for your kind letter of Monday last. I was glad to learn that you shifted to your new bungalow in Gulgasht on the 15th instant. But, as you were writing this letter, I was, perhaps, going on a picnic to Lahore with some of my friends.
We reached the Tomb of Jahangir at 9:00 am. But no sooner did we sit under a tree than it began to drizzle. And, before long, it began to rain in heavy torrents. We took shelter in the mosque nearby, but the rain did not appear to stop. We sat in a corner, eating whatever we had brought with us. We could neither cook nor buy anything. Instead of enjoying the picnic, we blamed ourselves for coming so far from Khanewal. We thanked God, when the rain stopped at about 5:00 pm. We lost no time in catching the first bus, and felt greatly pleased, when we reached home. The rain completely spoiled our picnic.
With love and best wishes.
Yours affectionately,
